Duncan Officially Files for Re-Election in North Dundas
WINCHESTER – With the municipal election campaign approaching, North Dundas Mayor and current Warden of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry officially launched his campaign for a second term on Wednesday afternoon.
“I am really proud of what we’ve been able to do in North Dundas these past four years.” said Duncan. “I feel we have really modernized ourselves as a municipality by coming up with new ways of doing things. And we have become known as a municipality that is really forward thinking and innovative. I hope to have the opportunity to keep that energy going for another term.”
In conjunction with filing his papers, Duncan launched a campaign website, www.ericduncan.ca, that outlines both the achievements of his first term as Mayor and his ideas for the next term of Council. His four point plan includes increased transparency through full, detailed public disclosure of Council expenses and revamping property tax bills to improve understanding of where municipal revenues go locally.
“People have repeatedly told me that they like how our Council and staff work together without drama, partisan bickering, and games,” added Duncan. “It’s made a difference: our meetings are effective, there is clear direction, and we are getting things done. My commitment is to keep that positive tone and strong team approach, and keep moving in the right direction.”
Duncan is currently 26 years old and is the first candidate for Mayor to file in North Dundas. The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 12th and Election Day is Monday October 27th.
